People who have both cats and dogs as pets, do they really fight like they used to show in kid's shows? How is their behavior towards each other? Also how do they behave with other stray animals of your locality?

Ha, our cat and dog will lie on the couch and groom each other. They're adorable.

Had a dog and a cat that were great friends. They would play rough and it always sounded like they were fighting but it was how they played.

Used to have both together but sadly my dog passed away. I adopted my dog first before adopting my cat 9 years later. Both mostly ignored each other while interacting with my family independently. Although my dog would get a little jealous when I'm playing with my cat and would bring her toys Infront of me or just lay on my lap. Regarding other animals, I think my dog was abused or had some trauma with the previous owner so she would be extremely cautious around them but would open up to them slowly after awhile. The cat on the other hand just ignore them and would do his own stuff unless they came to him and he would observe them for awhile.

Nope. My dog and one of my cats will literally headbutt each other and snuggle. The dog will also try to play with the other cats.

My dog tries really hard to sniff my cat’s butt and she doesn’t like it (don’t ask me why). She get’s defensive and scratches/hisses. That’s the entirety of their relationship.

We have 6 cats and a dog who thinks he's a cat. His feelings are obviously hurt when they will not play with him. 1 cat hates him and will (stupidly) attack if we don't intervene. 1 cat is afraid and runs away. The other 4 either tolerate him, ignore him, or love on him, depending on current mood.

Well, one of the cats attacks the dog, the other is lazy, and the cats fight.

Our dog treated the cat like another smaller dog and would get confused when she didn't want to run around and play. The cat treated the dog like her mentally challenged older sister. The cat would groom her and begrudgingly play with her out of pity sometimes. They were sisters and always had each other's backs.

used to have a cat and a dog (just a cat now), they never fought ever, was a MASSIVE dog though and at the time pretty small cat, but they never fought at all, even when they first met, the dog was a little rough because of his sheer size but it never bothered the cat, sometimes they cuddled up and slept like that, it was cute

In our locality, I have never seen a stray dog and a stray cat fighting or chasing each other, unless the issue is food. However, I haven't had any pets, so I was just inquisitive to know about their behaviours.

My Pitbull and my cat used to be friends but once my cat got the arthritis he got more crotchety and can't handle being jostled by the dog so he will lash out. Once he started doing it for reasons he decided it was fun and now occasionally does it just to fuck with the poor dog. They are no longer friends and my dog has a healthy fear of the cat. The cat will occasionally try to lay on the dog when the dog is under blankets but we don't allow it because it fucks with the dogs head.
